But after six movies, everyone knows the threat, but the fear is much more diminished, so choking out a dinosaur isn't the wildest concept. In the past, the idea of doing something like this would seem impossible. For example, when Claire was facing off with a Dilophosaurus, Owen Grady saved her by grabbing its mouth and essentially punching out the creature. Jurassic World Dominion also embraced ridiculousness even while the finale of the trilogy was its most serious. But now, while still outrageous, it's become more palatable because audiences are in on the joke. In the original Jurassic Park trilogy, the idea of a smiling dinosaur would be too far-fetched. For starters, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom introduced the Indoraptor as a deadly dinosaur so smart that it knew how to trick prey and even smirk at its success. While the brand synergy of Jurassic World and Jimmy Buffett only worked for the first movie, the sequels used that meta-humor to deliver a new level of self-aware ridiculousness. But the biggest nod to its self-awareness came with the appearance of Buffett himself. ![]() As a whole, the movie showed what happened when people lost sight of what they were running and the significance behind it, and every time Margaritaville showed up, it was a reminder of how mainstream the park got and the hilarity of a place as common as Margaritaville existing in a park filled with actual dinosaurs. While there's nothing wrong with chain restaurants, especially one on an island-themed after an island getaway, it was these additions that showed how the park had lost its way. But most importantly, it gave off a sense that Jurassic World had been so successful that it sold out. With Margaritaville in the middle of Jurassic World's hub area, it felt like a place that may actually exist off the coast of Costa Rica. Now, instead of John Hammond hiring cooks to make delicious food, Jurassic World had outsourced to chains and made the park feel more real than ever. But the true meta undertone of the series came with its branding on Main Street. ![]() This felt even more prominent when the many headaches of zoos and theme park businesses began to take shape, including coming up with new attractions and wanting animals that were scarier or had more teeth. Jurassic World took things to the next level as a movie that felt like a world that existed as an inspiration to the story of Jurassic Park. However, the true hilarity came from the fact that Buffett even appeared in such a unique franchise, proving how much the series had changed since 1993. What made the scene funny was the on-brand humor of the creator of Margaritaville running with his signature drink. ![]() ![]() In a brief moment, Buffett could be seen escaping a rogue Dimorphodon while he clutched two margaritas. In a matter of moments, a flock of Pterodactyls and Dimorphodons was descending on the guests and attacking them. When the Indominus Rex broke out of its enclosure, it caused a chain reaction of destruction that resulted in the escape of many flying creatures from the aviary. But the brand synergy took things to a whole other level when Buffett appeared while holding his most prized possessions. Fittingly, Margaritaville was one of the first things shown and was perfectly placed as Universal's Citywalk in Hollywood and Orlando feature a Margaritaville as well. Similar to Disneyland, the park featured a Main Street with shops and restaurants that guests could enjoy when they didn't want to explore the park. Jimmy Buffett's cameo came at a moment of intense chaos around the visitor's center area of Jurassic World.
